Little Disciplines Make Huge Differences

What is the most important part of your body that no doctor has ever been able to find?

Your mind!

Life is a present for the present, it is far more important than the package it comes in. However while you can see the body very easily, you can’t see the mind which shapes how your body behaves. No one can drive you insane, to anger or even away, unless you give them the keys.

Don’t let the voices in your head control the choices you make. Stay in the driver’s seat.

Our mind is where the future of our life is formed. Imagination is one of, if not the greatest gift that we have. Everyone’s future is created in their imagination first. From there it becomes reality as we consider options, decide what to do, and follow through.

Have you ever wondered, ‘where is my mind?’ Some would say the brain is the seat of the mind. It’s all about logic and choices. The brain controls the mind so therefore the mind must fit into the real estate of the brain.

Others will say the heart is the seat of the mind. These people will not decide or act if they don’t feel it in their heart. They feel like their decisions are part of their experience of life and not just connected to logic. Emotions and feelings are a strong guide to their choices and decisions; they continually make decisions from the heart.

After nearly 60 years of life experience, I think some people, more than having a seat for their mind, have their mind in their seat! I think this for the following reasons:

  • They sit on all their decisions
  • Some of their decisions seem to be polluted by the past
  • They continually seem to make crappy decisions
  • Many of their decisions seem to be constipated or a little runny and when you watch them long enough, most of their decisions seem to stink; they come from striving and straining and then get flushed away

If you want to have a healthy mind, it will come from a decision wrapped in conviction.

So, think about this:

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Phil 4:8

The reality is, “Whatever gets your focus gets your life!”

So stay focused. Never let peripheral become focus and be focused on what should be peripheral.

This discipline is one which will move you to a point where you will be less concerned about your past, more excited about your future and more engaged in your present.
